Loneliness and social isolation are severely detrimental to our health, and increase the chance of developing longer-term health conditions such as depression, dementia and heart disease. Unfortunately, millions of people in the UK experience loneliness throughout their lifetime.
Carr Gomm aims to alleviate these issues through our community projects and activities across Scotland. Our activities bring some of Scotland’s most vulnerable communities together in a variety of ways, encouraging connection and relationship-building. We are dedicated to ensuring that our activities are inclusive and accessible for everyone, especially those with poor health or low self-confidence who often feel isolated within their community.
All of our fundraised money goes towards running and developing these projects and activities, and has ensured that we’ve been able to provide many and varied additional opportunities for people and families across Scotland.
A small amount of fundraised money can go a long way to providing new opportunities: opportunities to meet new people, create new friendships, develop an increased sense of community, and thereafter, with increased confidence and determination, to dream of new adventures in life.
You can read more about our work, and the ways in which we are using your fundraised and donated monies below.
